Professional Experience

1999-1990 Bernard C. Meyers, Commercial Photographer Industrial, Architectural, Advertising and Product photography. I maintain a 2400 sq. ft. studio using all formats 35mm through 8" X 10", primarily using 4" X 5", specializing in location lighting and visual problem solving.

1983-1990, Founder & Managing Director of Portland Photographics: a full service professional color lab serving commercial photographers and businesses throughout New England nationally recognized for exhibitions and portfolio printing, with a particular emphasis on Cibachrome Printing. Most visible nationally was my reputation for exhibition quality color printing. Some photographers of note I printed for include, Paul Caponigro, Ernst Haas, Burk Uzzle, William Albert Allard, Sam Abell, Alex Webb, and David Doubliet.

Teaching Experience

1994-95, 97-99 University of Southern Maine, Assistant Professor of Photography , Art department. Teaching all levels, Advanced, Intermediate and Photo 1, Color Photography Printmaking and Design.

1991-1999 University of Southern Maine, Lecture III/Assist. Prof, Art department, Photo 1, Black & White Photography for majors and as an open elective, Intermediate Color Photography, I developed this course as an introduction to color photography, theory and practical applications . I was responsible for setting up a color printing (RA-4) and film processing ( E-6 and C-41 ) facility. Intermediate Photography, Black & White Craft a course for photo majors intended to improve their black & white printing and processing techniques, expanding their personal vision.

1991 & 1993 Maine Photographic Workshops, Resident faculty, Spring semester Courses in Color Vision and Color printing to photo majors from the two year degree program, and resident students.

1994-1985 Maine Photographic Workshops, one week intensive Master classes in Cibachrome printing , specializing in advanced masking techniques.

Education

Rochester Institute of Technology, College of Fine and Applied Arts, Program: Fine Arts-Printmaking.

Master of Fine Arts degree, 1990, with high honors Thesis "Nagual Interpretations", accepted Spring 1990 Major area of studies involved lithography and etching, extensive work was accomplished in the areas of multi-plate color lithographic printing, photo-etching and photo-lithography.
