Personal workshops; offer one on one classes in Exhibition Quality Color Printing, Ilfo/Cibachrome from slides or Ektacolor negative printing. The two day workshops usually begin on Friday afternoon and conclude Sunday afternoon. Other schedules can be arranged. The cost is $750.00 in my Portland studio/darkroom. Film and paper are not included. I will teach this workshop at your home/darkroom for a fee of $1,000.00, travel and lodging costs are additional. I have limited times available throughout the year, please reserve your workshop well in advance. A non-refundable deposit of $150.00 is required.

What workshops are about: My intent is to guide you to an aesthetic understanding of the medium and provide a firm foundation in the craft. Techniques covered with include proper negative and transparency exposure and selection, critical color correction, dependable standardized testing procedures, dodging and burning, selective color correction, contrast correction masking, chemical mixing and storage, print finishing and presentation and archival considerations. Darkroom design, equipment, processors and materials will all be discussed. Exhibition prints made for some of the worlds finest photographers will be available for discussion.

The Facility here is first rate, comfortable and functional. It is equipped with Durst enlargers, Schnieder and APO Rodagon lens, and Condit pin register equipment. The paper processor was graciously donated by Ilford.
Bernard C. Meyers has been teaching photography for over twenty years. He has taught at the Maine Photographic Workshops, Appalachian Photographic Workshops, Rochester Institute of Technology and the University of Southern Maine. In 1981 he founded Portland Photographics a color lab dedicated to printing Fine Art exhibitions and portfolios, selling the business in 1990 after building it into one of the finest color labs in the world. His clients included Magnum, The National Geographic, The Aperture Foundation, The International Center of Photography, Burk Uzzle, William Allard, Sam Abell, Alex Webb, Ernst Hass and Paul Caponigro. He is recognized internationally as a master Cibachrome printer. He holds a B.F.A. in Photographic Illustration and a Master of Fine Arts degree in lithographic and intaglio printmaking from R.I.T.
